Location
About the surrounding area of Can AsaramaCan Asarama is based just under 15 minutes drive from the centre of Pollensa, allowing guests to explore everything this insightful region offers. For those travelling to this area in November, you must take the time to visit La Fira. This event acts as a traditional trade fair and has been taking place regularly since the 18th century. During this festival, you will have the prime opportunity to browse a wealth of handmade woven goods, such as bags and hats. Thus, this is a perfect way to discover more about this region's history from a more personal and intimate perspective. La Fira usually takes place just a 10-minute drive from the villa and often occurs on the fourth Sunday after Saint Lucas, which is usually the second Sunday in November.
Formentor Lighthouse is a profoundly integral landmark that can be found around an hour away from Can Asarama. First constructed in 1863, this lighthouse stretches 210 metres above sea level and is mainly used to direct small fishing boats away from the tremendously sharp rocks that can often be found at the base of the shore. This landmark is also regarded as a keen source of creative inspiration, with prolific figures like Jose Hierro and Carlos Fuentes commending its beauty. As such, guests are encouraged to take the short drive towards the monument's peak and bask in the amazing sights as they travel through.
For those looking to uncover the nuances of this region from an entirely different perspective, a trip to Alzinaret Caves is a must-do activity. These caves were initially discovered in 1927, but many experts state that they date all the way back to 1600 BC. In turn, this is an unmissable landmark for anyone looking to get a closer look at a range of artefacts from the Middle Bronze Age. There is also a wide collection of caves to discover, offering guests the chance to enjoy a packed day out. If you are uncomfortable entering the caves, a collection of benches can be found outside the structures. Alzinaret Caves are situated around 20 minutes away from the villa.

THE REGION
Sa Pobla is a small municipality with around 12,000 inhabitants, which is situated in the centre of Mallorca, between Inca and Alcúdia. Sa Pobla is known for its agriculture and the humble potato, in particular, gets a lot of attention here as it is exported to many countries and a festival is even held in its honour each year.
The town of Sa Pobla is partly on the Albufera nature reserve (Parc natural de s'Albufera de Mallorca), a protected wetland area. The nature reserve is particularly good for bird watching as well as hikes and walks.

Best Suited For: All AgesPollensa also presents various family-friendly attractions, ensuring that every guest can enjoy their time in this area. The Pollensa Museum is one of the region's most remarkable attractions and is just under 15 minutes from Can Asarama. Though it is now known for hosting the works of Atilio Boveri, this museum was originally used as a storage unit for an array of ornate Gothic altarpieces. These pieces were highly regarded and celebrated at the prestigious Summer Exhibition of Painting. Thus this is a great attraction to visit if you wish to immerse yourself deeper into the European contemporary art scene. Plus, it is free to enter for all guests, making it a suitable option for those travelling on a budget.
The Pollensa Market is another bustling attraction and showcases over 300 riveting stalls. These stalls promote artisan goods such as bags, clothes, and jewellery, ensuring that guests can pick up a few souvenirs to show off back home. This market also hosts a plethora of fresh fruit and vegetable stalls, allowing guests to purchase a collection of unique ingredients to use in their cooking back at the villa. The Pollensa Market is situated just over 10 minutes away from the villa and welcomes guests every Sunday from 8 am to 1:30 pm.
If you wish to discover more about the region's rich religious legacy, you must take the time to observe the Puig de Maria. At the top of a looming 330-metre summit sits a coveted 14th-century monastery once seen as a devoted shrine to the Virgin Mary. Although it boasts an immense history, this building has undergone a series of changes, particularly in the 18th century when it was transformed to suit the Gothic and Baroque styles seen throughout this period. Guests can also travel inside to marvel at the delightful artefacts on show. Many previous guests also note that it only takes around half an hour to climb to the top of this peak, making it an accessible hike for most. Puig de Maria is based around 10 minutes away from the villa.
