Selva Deluxe enjoys a delightful rural location at the foot of Mallorca’s mountain backbone near Selva. The pretty cobbled town of Selva offers relaxation and tranquillity. The town enjoys an exciting history, with rebellions and bandits being part of it. Now Selva prospers as a proud and traditional community offering an actual Mallorca experience. Its impressive church enjoys a gothic facade, and much was renovated after a fire in 1855. The Valella cross is a well-known piece of the town's historical architecture. The bustling weekly Wednesday market is very popular. The proximity of the Tramuntana mountains makes it ideal for those that want to explore on foot or bike—the two-day herb fair features cooking demonstrations, exhibitions and events. There is a procession of the Myrtle plant, which is brought to the village square and distilled to produce a liqueur.

Within easy reach of the villa are Pollensa and Puerta Pollensa. Pollensa is a beautiful ancient walled town with stunning architecture, modern art galleries, fabulous boutiques, chic, gastronomic restaurants and a lively market. Puerto Pollensa is fantastic with its dazzling white sand and shallow, warm water. A little further on, Formentor is spectacular and worth the bumpy drive.

Alcudia Old Town is wonderfully atmospheric for an evening out. It is very romantic with narrow cobbled streets, Romeo and Juliet balconies, authentic cafes, unique boutiques, fabulous fine dining and traditional restaurants, vibrant tapas bars and a superb open-air market. Alcudia’s Roman ruins and museum sit just outside the walls and are very interesting. Alcudia Old Town hosts many cultural events, including traditional fiestas and classical music festivals. Visitors can walk around the entire perimeter of the town’s medieval walls, either on the inside on the Cami de Ronde route or the outside, using what has now become a delightful garden walk. You can enjoy wonderful panoramic views of the Bay of Pollensa from the top of the walls.

There are several vineyards within easy reach where you can taste some delicious wines. These include the excellent Bodegas Can Vidalet at Pollensa, Bodega Butxet and the Mortitx winery, hidden off a winding road between Pollensa and Lluc. It is worth navigating the hairpin bends of the Tramuntana mountain range to find it.

The Serra de Tramuntana was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2011 to protect the unique landscape, customs and heritage. The mountains skirt the length of Mallorca’s northern coast. Whether you choose to drive, hike or cycle, there are countless incredible sights to see, from the Moorish terraced hillsides dropping to the sea in Banyalbufar to the stunning clifftop viewing points such as the Mirador de Ricardo Roca and Mirador De Ses Barques, where you can see the lovely resort of Soller in the distance.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

Selva Deluxe is ideal for a family holiday. It is modern and bright and has a great pool, orchard, vegetable garden and lush lawns. Since the villa sits in the island's centre, you can easily visit the mountains, Palma, the beaches and other beautiful towns and villages.

If your group includes teens, you can book a canyoning adventure that takes place twenty minutes from Palma. It is ideal for all skill levels of thrill-loving families. You will scramble over rocks, jump into pools of water and rappel down cliffs, all under the guidance of experienced guides. Beginners can start at Torrente Coanegra near the village of Orient.

Kids can get a big culture fix in Palma, exploring the Old Town and the Cathedral of Santa Maria de Palma, one of the most famous landmarks in the city. The cathedral has many treasures, including works by Antoni Gaudi and Miquel Barcelo. Plaza de Toros de Palma is Mallorca’s bullfighting arena. Although there is no longer any bullfighting, there are tours that explain the history and tradition of this Spanish sport.

Your options are endless for sandcastle fun and watersports. The options near Palma are El Arenal and Can Pastilla, but you can head to Puerto Pollensa and Alcudia for some wonderful beaches.

In the north of the island, you can head to the Santuari de Lluc, a sanctuary dedicated to the Virgin Mary in Lluc. It is one of Spain's most famous pilgrimage sites and has been a tourist attraction for centuries. It has gorgeous views from the top of a hill in the Tramuntana mountains.

The Hidropark Waterpark in Alcudia boasts kamikaze slides, a wave pool, swimming and water playgrounds. There are gentle slides for very young children. There are also inflatable castles, trampolines, giant floating balls and a golf course. It is set in lush landscaped gardens and is a great day out.

You can head to La Reserva Galatzo, deep in the Tramuntana mountains, near Puigpunyent for some thrilling fun. As well as having stunning scenery and much wildlife, the adventure park offers rock climbing, swinging bridges, a zip wire and canyons which you can slide down. There are well-marked paths, and the barbecue area is a great place to finish.
