Recently built as part of an impressive group of three homes which overlook the crashing waves of Weligama Cape, you will find Palm Tree Gardens. This large home is spread over four floors and offers accommodation for a party of up to ten guests, close to bars, restaurants and some of the Southern Province's best-loved beaches.

This stunning new villa has been built with outdoor living in mind, and each of the four storeys offers guests access to gardens, terraces and balconies. With such fantastic weather and breathtaking views, you want to get outside in the sunshine as much as possible. When staying at Palm Tree Gardens, you can enjoy the sea views from every bedroom and living space.

You will enter the villa on the ground floor, home to the fully-fitted kitchen. Unless you fancy preparing a snack or taking some cookery classes, this will be the domain of the brilliant chef! When you arrive, you will meet with the chefs to discuss your dietary requirements and food choices so that you and your party have the perfect menu for your trip. Whether you wish to try local dishes or tuck into Italian pasta, the chef here will go above and beyond to meet your needs. As you walk outside from the kitchen, you will find a built-in seating area and sun loungers, which line the feature swimming pool. The impressive pool looks right out over the sea below.

On the home's first floor, there is a cosy living room for when you wish to gather indoors later in the evening. Here, you can sit back and relax with a glass of wine and talk the night away with your loved ones. There are also two vast bedrooms with living areas, luxurious bathrooms, and private balconies on this floor. Of course, this floor is also equipped with communal outdoor space, including a dining veranda.

The other three bedrooms can be found one floor up. These rooms are just as inviting as the others, with private bathrooms and access to a large terrace that runs the entire property. Two of these bedrooms are double rooms, and one has two twin beds.

Heading up to the fourth and final floor, you will discover an astounding roof terrace which spans the entire floor. This is a great place for socialising in the evenings, listening to music, and sipping drinks from the bar area. Whether you wish to relax with a good book or dine al-fresco, this is a fantastic space for it as it offers the best views in the house, especially as the sun sets over the Indian Ocean.

With the beloved Jungle Beach just 500m away and a range of local cafes and bars in walking distance, you could not wish for a better location. You could spend your entire trip sunbathing on the nearby beaches and snorkelling in the calm ocean.

If you are wishing for a little more adventure, you can try surfing, bike riding and adrenaline-fuelled water sports close to the villa or visit ancient fortresses and shop in charming boutiques in towns and cities such as Galle and Matara.

  • This beautiful home is fully staffed with a concierge team, a butler and a private chef. The staff stay in a building within the grounds separate from the main house.
  • While the staff and chef are included in your booking, the cost of meals will be charged separately based on your menu choices. This is to be paid locally in cash - which we recommend taking out prior to your arrival.
  • If you are travelling as part of a wider group, there are two more homes owned by the same owners that you could also rent (Palm Tree Paradise and Jungle Beach Villa). 
  • The excellent climate means that the water here can be heated by solar energy, though there is also a backup generator available.
  • Palm Tree Gardens is set over four storeys, please take care when using the stairs. 
  • Please note air-conditioning is featured in the bedrooms only.

With one of the Southern Province's best beaches, just a short stroll away, and several amenities such as restaurants, bars and a water sports centre within easy reach, Palm Tree Gardens is a fantastic place to stay for those looking for a Sri Lankan home in the heart of the action.

This gorgeous, four-storey villa enjoys a fantastic location with plenty to see and do close by and many more towns and cities within driving distance. Just over the road from the house, there is a welcoming bar serving up fruity cocktails and a seafood restaurant serving the catch of the day. Also, within walking distance, there are many more cafes and restaurants for the times you fancy eating out in the local area. Of course, you cannot come to Sri Lanka without visiting the world-class beaches, and Jungle Beach, which is truly breathtaking, is just 500m away from the house; this is the perfect place for sunbathing, swimming and learning to surf.

If you would like to try out some fun activities, you can hire bikes, go snorkelling within a mile of the villa, or even head out on a scuba diving or whale watching trip. There certainly is something for everyone in this area.

Just 4km away from Palm Tree Gardens, you will find a more comprehensive array of shops and eateries in Weligama, which started life as a small fishing village. You can still see the local stilt fishermen at work here or explore the cafes, bars and the bustling market. If you would like to head out on a particular trip, why not book a whale-watching boat trip or a sunset cruise?

If you want to explore one of the area's larger towns or cities, Galle's UNESCO World Heritage city should make your itinerary. The thriving city is just 25km away and feels different from the beachside towns near the villa. The city is best-known for its historic fortress, which encloses the atmospheric old town, where you can stroll around cobbled streets and quaint stores. Old prisons, the staggering lighthouse and museums can also be visited during your day trip.

There is much more to Sri Lanka than the towns and beaches, and you can also go on safari here! This is a must for any animal lover, as you can see Asian elephants, crocodiles and countless exotic birds in the wild. One of the best places to visit is Udawalawe National Park, worth the 110km drive.
