Paradise Gates is a beautiful, Dutch Colonial-style home on the shores of one of the Southern Province's finest beaches. Set in a village setting, within easy reach of fantastic cities like Galle, this spacious home is the perfect base for exploring the island of Sri Lanka.

The villa was built 30 years ago in a style typical of island homes, and just last year, the house was fully renovated to modernise the décor and facilities. The polished floors, feature pillars and vaulted ceilings add a natural old-world charm to the home and work well with the modern colour palette and high-quality furnishings to create a truly inviting place to stay.

The house is set over one floor, with most rooms looking out over the garden and the stunning Indian Ocean and others facing inward over the internal courtyard with a pretty fish pond. Inside, you will find a vast living room with plenty of space to seat your party on the planter's chairs and comfy sofas; this grand room leads out into the garden and to the covered dining veranda.

Paradise Gates has five beautiful bedrooms, which can sleep ten guests in total. These bright and airy rooms overlook the lush, leafy grounds and offer the ideal environment for a restful night's sleep. Three of the rooms have large, romantic canopy beds and en-suite bathrooms, while the other two can be set up as twin or double rooms to meet your party's needs.

The climate here is geared towards outdoor living, so you will find that most of the communal areas and living spaces are outside or under the wraparound veranda. Out in the garden, there are many lounge areas, al-fresco dining spaces and sun loungers where you can sunbathe whilst gazing out to sea. When you fancy a dip, all you need to do is open the gates and step into the gorgeous ocean at the end of the garden.

If you plan to fully unwind and not lift a finger whilst on holiday, you will be thrilled to learn that this home is fully staffed. There are concierge staff, cleaners, gardeners and a private chef to make everything run smoothly.

Whether you wish to dine on typical Sri Lankan dishes of rice and curries or tuck into soups or pasta, the skilled chef can prepare a wide range of meals. The chef will even hold barbecue nights and make separate meals for children and those with dietary needs.

If you can bring yourself to Paradise Gates, an abundance of tropical beaches await you on your doorstep. Close to the villa, you can visit some of the island's best-loved beaches, such as jungle beach, and learn to surf at one of the local surf schools. There is also lots to see and do here, from yoga classes to watching newly hatched turtles go out to sea. 

If you do not mind driving to other areas, you can easily access the large city of Galle which is 11km away or you could drive inland to experience an enchanting safari in one of the island's national parks.

Paradise Gates is just a stone's throw away from an almost deserted beach where you can relax, listening to the waves hitting the shore and watching the local stilt fishermen at their work.

Near the home, you have the small town of Talpe with many amenities, such as beachside restaurants, trendy cafes and shops. In addition, many beaches are within easy reach of the house, including Talpe Beach, known for its rock pools. These impressive pools are cut from the natural rock and were once used to soak coconut husks. Now you can sit in them and enjoy the view. There are also idyllic, quiet sandy beaches nearby and beaches with water sports centres and surf schools for those seeking adventure.

In addition to Talpe, many more villages are nearby, such as Koggala, which is 3km away. This village offers even more beaches and amenities for you to visit. For example, there is a lake with a Buddhist temple at its centre, a folk museum, a luxury spa and a selection of restaurants.

If you fancy taking a day trip to learn more about the area's history and culture, the vibrant city of Galle is just 11km away. As the city was colonised by the Portuguese, the Dutch, and the British, it is a melting pot of cultures and different types of architecture. The city's historic heart can be found within the enormous UNESCO-protected Galle Fort fortress. These vast walls contain pretty cobbled streets packed with boutiques, the city's old prisons, a staggering lighthouse and ancient churches. Furthermore, there are more modern parts of town with museums, restaurants, markets and international restaurants for you to discover. From the coast at Galle, you can participate in many boat trips, such as whale-watching trips, canoe safaris, snorkelling, and scuba diving out in the clear water.

Outside the coastal towns, you can get to know much more about Sri Lanka on other guided tours and excursions. If you would like to learn about some of the island's famous exports, you could tour a cinnamon farm or go on a tea tasting at a vast tea plantation. You can also hire bikes, cycle down the expansive coastline, and even head into the island's interior to experience a safari, where you can spot Asian Elephants!

Security deposit A deposit equivalent to the price for 1 night is paid in cash to the owner upon arrival and refunded upon departure, subject to full inspection.
