Dalyan
Turkey is an eclectic mix of dramatic scenery, amazing food and a deep history. A visit to Turkey almost always inspires comment about the hospitality, maybe because the Turkish people believe a visitor is a gift from God. A trip to Turkey will almost definitely inspire you to return. You’ll be following in the footsteps of many a famous person from ancient history.
The South West coast of Turkey offers the perfect climate for your holiday, boasting over 280 dry days a year and an average June temperature of 28C in Dalyan, with sea temperatures of 23 degrees Celsius.
The Carian’s once ruled this coast and there are lots of signs of their existence, such as rock tombs and the ancient riverside city of Caunos that sits opposite Dalyan. An area surrounded by pine trees, which are believed by locals to clean the air and increase the oxygen levels. The area is favoured by beekeepers for honeymaking and you will see many of the traditional blue beehives, and a few bees, in the area.
Modern Dalyan is a small resort on the river’s edge. Tourists enjoy the small wooden boat trips chugging along to the Iztuzu beach, maybe stopping at one of the sulphur mud baths, for a somewhat rudimentary beauty treatment and some one-off photos for the holiday album. The river has a great view of the rock tombs and has much wildlife along the reedbeds. The Istuzu beach is where the endangered loggerhead turtles come to lay their eggs. The beach caught international interest in the 80’s when David Bellamy and fellow environmentalist stopped a hotel development. Today it’s a conservation area and at the far end of the beach, there is a turtle rescue centre you can visit.
Dalyan has lots of restaurants, bars and a selection of gift shops. Dalyan has a local market on a Saturday, which has an amazing selection of fruit and vegetables. You should take the opportunity to enjoy breakfast at the water’s edge in nearby Gokbel. Slightly further out is the village of Beyobasi, where you can enjoy a trout meal in a restaurant cooled by the fast running waters, just off of the main Dalaman-Akyaka road.
The Koycegiz lake is at the other end of the river. The small town of Koyceyiz is perched on the side of the lake. The small bazaar gives the idea Koycegiz was once more important than Dalyan, thus probably the best day to visit is Monday when the weekly market is in town. Try one of the restaurants on the edge of the lake for lunch. If you’ve driven, don’t forget to stop at one of the fruit stalls on the road side, plying a healthy mix of orange & pomegranate juice. The Sultaniye Hot Springs sit on the south-west shore the lake. The hot mud pools contain mineral waters that are rich in chloride, sodium, hydrogen sulphide and bromide. There are even rudimentary cabins that some braver souls come to stay & take the waters
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesVilla Kurdele makes for an excellent accommodation for families! With ample space around the villa, as well as a garden where kids can burn hours of energy in the hot Turkish sun! If they feel too hot, they can take a dip in the pool and splash around for hours under divine scents of olives, lemons and walnuts! The pool has been blessed with a baby pool, perfect for the littlest ones to join in the fun! When the kids have taken control of the pool, adults can relax on the loungers!
One of the upstairs bedrooms comes with two single beds, that can be joined to make a double bed and a sofa that unfolds to provide another bed, perfect for all types of families. Before kids sleep, they can enjoy satellite tv or movies on the DVD player!
Kids can be fed at the restaurant in the village as well as the cafe. Food can be ordered at the restaurant and then prepared at home in the comfort of the villa on any occasion you and your fellow holidaymakers wish!
Kargıcak Beach is highly rated for its cleanliness and family-friendly vibe! Take to the water to snorkel and swim, and for older, more adventurous children they can take to the water-sports and enjoy parasailing, banana boat, jet skis, fly-boards, waterskiing, wakeboards and much more! After hours of fun, hungry families can enjoy the food at the bar and restaurant by the beach on outdoor tables for Alfresco dining with views!
In Dalyan, families can purchase food to cook at home on the terrace or in the indoor kitchen from a range of supermarkets in town! Or for more rural and native gifts and goods head to the Saturday Market! Dine at a multitude of restaurants both serving traditional Turkish meals and more familiar favourites and globally enjoyed foods, before heading to see Kaunos, the ruins of a city built into the mountains! To top off this family-friendly town, many of the clubs in Dalyan are kitted out with games consoles to keep the kids entertained on nights out!

We really enjoyed staying in this lovely villa!
We really enjoyed staying in this lovely villa, which was so well equipped - a great surprise and very welcome, unusual to find!
Thanks too for your recommendations, all fantastic, without exception. Our favourite day was spent on Savas’ boat. Sunset Restaurant was indeed a gem. We haven’t been to Turkey before but will definitely be returning, stunning scenery (even though I was a little scared on the mountain roads)! -
We really have adored it!
We’ve bid a very sad farewell to the very amazing Villa Kurdele and are now on the way to the airport. Huge thanks again for all the tips and advice and great support and for such a very special place with beautiful touches. We really have adored it!

We are already dreaming of next year...
We are going to cry when we leave Villa Kurdele tomorrow morning - we will be so sad to leave having fallen in love with your villa, the local beach (we are sitting in Kardicak Bay beach restaurant (cocktail in hand) as I type, and surrounding area. What a fabulous part of the world. Thank you so much for letting us share your villa. Just wanted to let you know that unfortunately the toaster didn’t work - not really an issue for us - but just so you know. Otherwise everything was perfect - the water coolers were especially appreciated in this hot weather - and your various recommendations came up trumps each time. Thank you so much.

Beautiful Villa
Beautiful villa, well appointed, excellent pool and stunning location. Plenty of space for everyone.

Villa Kurdele was everything promised and more.
We were looking for splendid isolation, in natural surroundings and comfort. It was glorious, the view was one of the best I have ever seen, waking up to the sunrise and then the sunset over the mountains and sea was wonderful. The attention to detail provided in your lovely villa, the towels, the kitchen equipment, and that huge welcome hamper were so appreciated.
Everyday we woke to a pristine garden and pool, thanks to the friendly gardener who made us all feel so welcome but was discreet and unobtrusive.
The information online really helped us to plan our visits locally, we loved the expansive breakfast at Yalıçapkını – which as you said, was quite beautiful. We enjoyed a few evenings the beach bar and the uphill walk home to work off the lovely food and drink.
The Saturday market in Dalyan was a treat, we stocked up twice during our visit and your tips about the local bread and produce were spot on.
Thanks so much for all the helpful information which made our stay so straightforward and relaxing.
Taking so much time to provide all the comforts of home in your beautiful, villa and offering us such splendid isolation in the mountains was very much appreciated. We look forward to visiting again next year.

Peaceful Place
Villa Kurdele is truly a peaceful place, with a gentle soundtrack of sheep bells and waves on the beach in the bay that it faces. The spacious accommodation includes plenty of outside covered space that gives shelter from the strong sun and, when I was there in June, the on-shore breeze kept the temperature manageable. There are a number of short walks right from the front door, taking you down to the beach or up to splendid viewpoints, all through forests of pine and wild herbs. In my view, it's a splendid place to decompress.
