Villa Centum is a gorgeous, stylish gem found in the tranquil village of Cavdir. This beautifully finished villa is ideal for small families or two couples, boasting a double and a twin bedroom. Cavdir sits up in the hills above Kalkan and the gorgeous Patara Beach. The villa is very characterful with exposed stone walls together with stylish furnishings. It boasts a fabulous open plan living space, two bedrooms and an excellent terrace and garden. Surrounded by nature, Villa Centum is an excellent pick for those wanting to relax in an idyllic haven yet be reasonable close to the action.

Kalkan is one of Turkey’s prettiest resorts where you can dine in one of its fabulous restaurants, wander along its narrow, bougainvillea draped, cobbled streets buying gorgeous jewellery, clothes or souvenirs, stop for cocktails in one of the waterfront bars or head to the harbour for a boat trip. Kalkan’s hilly streets are sprinkled with unique boutiques, charming whitewashed houses, flower adorned courtyards, bars and restaurants. Delicious gastronomic cuisine is offered from the town’s three hundred and fifty plus restaurants, some tucked away on secret corners, some hidden away in pretty warrens and some high up on rooftops where you will delight in the sensational sea views, especially at sunset. Patara is mostly known for its stunning white sandy beach though its ruins attract many visitors. Patara was the most important Lycian port with the ancient city of Patara sitting a few kilometres from the beach. The beach offers exciting surf, a fantastic array of watersports, beautiful sand dunes, Caretta-Caretta turtles and perfect sunsets.

The elegant living space of Villa Centum enjoys a super shiny floor, a contemporary kitchen, a colourful sumptuous sofa and chairs, a smart dining space and a wall-mounted television. The feature stone walls look wonderful against the modern kitchen cabinetry and luxury furniture. The kitchen enjoys excellent appliances including a black American style fridge freezer. Doors open to the terrace with its alfresco dining space, pool, loungers and garden.

Like the living space, the two bedrooms are beautifully finished with gorgeous furniture and handpicked accessories. The master bedroom suite enjoys a comfy kingsize bed adorned with luxury linens and co-ordinated soft furnishings. It also features a fabulous sunken jacuzzi bath and a separate ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower. It is a fantastic, dreamy space that opens directly to the terrace and pool and offers much space for your holiday wardrobe. It is characterful, tasteful and superbly comfortable. If feels very indulgent to relax in the jacuzzi bath. The exposed stone walls continue in the ensuite bathroom, contrasting beautifully with beige and grey tiles. The twin room is equally lovely and offers its own brilliantly fitted ensuite bathroom.

The terrace is a delight with an 8m x 3.75m fabulous pool, alfresco lounge and dining space and a built-in barbecue. You will spend lots of time here. On a lower level, there is a lush garden with pretty borders and some children’s play equipment.

Villa Centum is located in the peaceful village of Cavdir, just above Patara and Kalkan. It is a lovely spot within easy reach of the Lycian Coast beaches and attractions. The enchanting, well-to-do, harbourside town of Kalkan is beautiful. If you do not want to drive, you can hop on a bus in Cavdir to Kalkan. Until the 1920’s, Kalkan was a sleepy fishing village, then known as Kalamaki. It remains an unspoiled, charming destination surrounded by nature and and sparkling turquoise, crystal clear sea and full of historic architecture, bougainvillea-draped streets, rooftop restaurants and unique boutiques. The busy harbour is full of yachts, gilets and boats awaiting tourists who want to explore the coast or enjoy some watersports. The town enjoys many sun drenched bathing platforms along with a small central beach. There are Ottoman-Greek whitewashed chic boutiques and gift shops sprinkled along the narrow, hilly streets, all looking down on a perfect bay. Visitors enjoy buying textiles, clothes, ‘designer’ handbags and very pretty jewellery from the unique shops. The welcoming restaurants offer varied menus of Turkish mezes, zesty salads and fresh fish. There are also a number of chill-out beach clubs with bars and bathing platforms. The yacht club is excellent for sunset cocktails. Just up the hill are the fabulous trout farms of Islamar where you can enjoy delicious dinners. Springs were diverted from the mountains into Islamar which led to a thriving trout farming industry. Not only will you be served delicious fresh fish, the views from the restaurant terraces are sensational. Boat trips can be taken from Kalkan harbour on traditional gulets or other boats. The gulet trips are wonderful and usually come with a traditional meal. Visitors enjoy exploring the local bays, beaches and sea caves while others go further to Kekova, one of the most beautiful areas of the Turkish coast. Other popular excursions include those to the village of Ucaoyz and glass-bottom boat trips, all of which include swim stops. There are also romantic moonlight cruises and sunset trips.

Beach options for guests staying at Villa Centum are the sandy cove of Kaputas, the stunning sandy 20 km long Patara Beach and further away, the stunning sands of Oludeniz. The ancient city of Patara lies a few kilometres from the beach with an ancient theatre, restored parliament building and impressive Roman baths. Patara Beach is very beautiful with gorgeous sand dunes, fabulous surf, a pine fragrance, turtles and a dazzling turquoise sea. It is popular with families. There is also often a horse safari tour that gives you the chance to feel like you are riding in the desert. The beach is a protected area due to the turtles laying eggs on the beach. It is popular for watersports including canoeing, paragliding, kayaking and scuba divings. Kaputas Beach can be reached by boat. Patara’s history is fascinating. For some time the Roman emperor Hadrian lived in Patara. History lovers also enjoy the preserved ‘ghost village’ of Kayakoy where hundreds of deserted, Greek-style houses and churches sit eerily on the hillside should also be on your list of excursions. It was abandoned after the Turkish-Greek population exchange of 1923 and is eerily silent.

Just 25 minutes drive away is the picturesque resort of Kas. Like Kalkan but on a smaller scale, it is very pretty with narrow winding lanes, rustic wooden balconies with cascading bougainvillea, atmospheric, upmarket restaurants and beautiful boutiques and shops. It also comes with a well-preserved Greek amphitheatre which offers sensational views from the top tier.

Guests also enjoy some thrilling adventures such as kayaking along the Dalyan River or visiting the majestic and dramatic Saklikent Gorge which was opened as a national park in 1996. The gorge is 18km long and 300m deep. Visitors wade through chilly water, climb, swim and slide through the gorge and its many boulders and tunnels. It is exhilarating and great fun with the fresh mountain water often up to waist height. Guides can lead you through offering so much fun.  River rafting and dining by the waterside are additional options at this fantastic location.

Islamlar

Islamlar sits 8 km above Kalkan. Once the place Kalkan folk went to cool off at one of the trout farms built to make use of the mountain’s springs. Today Islamlar houses many a villa, enjoyed by Istanbul Turks who prefer a holiday in slightly cooler and cleaner air. Here the locals grow grapes and pomegranates, but you’ll mainly see the men sat gossiping next to the local teahouse. The trout farms remain a place to come for a wonderful fresh meal, or a breakfast consisting of fresh local fare. The rocket will be the freshest & most tasty you’ve ever had; and the fresh chips cooked in olive oil take some beating.

Villa Centum is a wonderful pick for family holidays. The villa enjoys a wonderful terrace and pool, a pretty garden with a play area for young children and a fabulous living space where children can relax with a movie at the end of a busy day..

Kalkan is a fabulous resort for families. There are fantastic boat trips from the harbour so that children can swim in deserted coves, jump from the boat and off rocks, spot turtles swimming in the stunning azure waters and snorkel around the coves. The traditional wooden Turkish gulets offer a fabulous day out with delicious fresh fish lunches cooked and served on the boat plus everyone is given the chance to jump in the sea. You can take boat trips to the small, uninhabited island of Kekova. It is a delightful family excursion where you will discover the island’s remains of a sunken ancient city visible below the waves. The ruins are of the trading post, Simena which was destroyed by earthquakes in the second century. Kalkan’s Palm Beach Club is wonderful with lots of watersports and a fun inflatable waterpark.

Patara Beach’s 20km stretch of silver sand is an excellent beach option for families with shallow water and a good range of watersports. The fascinating, ancient Patara ruins are located at one end of the beach. The ancient village of Patara is set in the middle of a national park where you can walk around 2000 year old Lycian ruins such as the magnificent amphitheatre and triumphal arch. Patara Beach is also an important site for loggerhead turtles which young ones love to spot. The white-shingle cove of Kaputas is also a popular pick. Families that enjoy walking can hike the old-time Lycian Way which meanders along the coast of Ancient Lycia. Further along the coast, Oludeniz enjoys a sensational beach and a fun waterpark.

Thrill seeking children love kayaking along the Xanthos River to Patara Beach, taking mud baths on the way or trips to the dramatic, magical Salikent Gorge. Children love clambering over rocks, sliding down them, finding tunnels and swimming to get through the gorge. It’s an Indiana-Jones style adventure and to top it off there is an optional river rafting trip at the end.
